I first met Dr. Alam in 2009 at the American Embassy in New Delhi, where he was teaching both Hindi and Urdu. This introduction proved to be a remarkable opportunity to get to know him—not only as an instructor but also as an insightful guide to India. I initially enrolled in his Hindi courses and later added Urdu, continuing my studies with him throughout my six-year assignment at the Embassy.
Dr. Alam was an exceptional teacher and an invaluable mentor. His classes were always meticulously prepared, and the curriculum he developed was custom-tailored to meet my professional and personal requirements. Beyond language instruction, he was the person I could turn to for any questions regarding Indian culture, society, and daily life.
Over time, our relationship grew into a meaningful friendship, and he greatly enriched my stay in India. His ability to explain both the languages and the complex social fabric of the country gave me a depth of understanding I would not have gained otherwise.
I extend my sincere best wishes to Dr. Alam for all his future endeavors. With his dedication to teaching and his profound understanding of people, he will undoubtedly continue to be an asset to every student fortunate enough to learn from him.
